If you're planning your first trip to Cappadocia, you're in for something unforgettable — but trust me, there's more to this region than the hot air balloons you see on Instagram.
As locals living and working in Cappadocia every day, we've helped thousands of travelers make the most of their time here. So here’s our heartfelt, insider guide — to help you plan a trip that’s not only beautiful but also well-timed, well-organized, and stress-free.
Let’s get started.
When to Visit Cappadocia
The most popular time is from April to October, especially spring and early autumn when the skies are clear and balloon flights are more frequent. But don’t rule out winter — if you’re lucky enough to catch snow-covered valleys with balloons rising into the cold morning light, you’ll experience a type of magic that few others do.
The most important advice we can give:
Plan to stay in Cappadocia for at least 2 full days.
Why? Because hot air balloon flights are weather-dependent, and cancellations happen, especially in winter and early spring. The longer you stay, the better your chances of flying. Even if you don't take off the first morning, you'll likely get a chance on the next.
How to Get Here
You can fly into:
-
Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) – about 35 minutes from the main hotel areas.
-
Kayseri Airport (ASR) – about 75 minutes away, but with more frequent flights.
Need a reliable airport transfer? Just ask Tourla Cappadocia — they’ll arrange it all in advance, including pickup at odd hours.
Where to Stay in Cappadocia
Cappadocia is famous for its cave hotels, and we’re proud to recommend our very own:
Sky Cave Suites – Uçhisar
Wake up in a luxurious cave carved from ancient stone, enjoy rich Turkish breakfast with panoramic views over Pigeon Valley, and watch hot air balloons rise right from your terrace. Each of our 17 rooms is uniquely designed — some with jacuzzis, Turkish baths, or firelit terraces.
This isn’t just a stay. It’s an experience between stone and sky.
